As the new year races toward us at a breakneck pace, those pesky resolution lists we've been putting off are begging for your attention… so have a drink! Here are a few cocktails that will have you feeling positive about getting back into gym and eating healthier in 2018.
Beets are plentiful in a plethora of healthy vitamins and minerals that help keep your bodily systems humming along. They've been linked to promoting liver health, so you can feel good about mitigating the effects of the alcohol on your body. This tasty concoction has a hint of savoriness with the fresh thyme and refreshing mouth feel with a bubbly dose of soda water.
Just Beet it
1 oz Beet juice
2 sprigs Thyme
.75 oz Lemon juice
.75 oz Simple syrup
2 oz Gin
Garnish: beet slice, beet leaf, grapes, thyme sprig
Add grapes & thyme to shaker tin and muddle
Add beet juice, lemon juice, simple syrup & gin
Add ice and shake well
Strain into collins glass
Top with soda
Kombucha has grown exponentially in popularity in the last couple of years, and for good reason. The”booch” provides your system with much needed probiotics for gut health and is loaded with antioxidants and polyphenols that help kill bad bacteria. This Moscow Mule variation replaces the sugar saturated ginger beer with a ginger infused kombucha. What’s a mule without the copper mug? Kombucha Moscow Mule
Juice of half a lime
5 oz ginger kombucha
2 oz vodka
Fill a pure copper moscow mule mug with ice
Add lime juice and vodka
Top with kombucha
Coconut sugar is a great alternative to white sugar because of it's less caustic processing that retains the minerals zinc, calcium and potassium. By replacing half the sugar of this classic Brazilian cocktail, the Caipirinha, with coconut sugar, you're doing your body a healthy favor.
Coconut Sugar Caipirinha
Half a lime
2 oz cachaça
2 tsp coconut sugar
1 tsp regular sugar
Build in double old fashioned glass
Cut lime into wedges and add to glass
Add cachaça and ice
