Three Spiced Up Bloody Mary Recipes



Known as “hair of the dog” or the ultimate hangover cure, the Bloody Mary is a brunch staple, representing the perfect marriage of sweet, spicy, and savory. While it may not be the ultimate cure to the morning-after headache, it does make for a tasty, robust cocktail. A hearty cocktail with the perfect
accouterments hits the spot like nothing else. With many different variations to this beloved elixir, we wanted to “beef” up the traditional recipe and offer a few new spins on the brunch classic. We recommend adding a beef jerky garnish to add not only a depth of flavor but also a nice textural element (and a little snack to nibble on throughout). The Classic Bloody Mary

The first recipe features a traditional Bloody Mary garnished with a strip of our Classic Original Big Slab beef jerky. The acidity of the tomato juice and lemon compliments the spiciness of the horseradish and hot sauce. By the time you finish the drink, the slab of beef jerky has been infused with the tomato juice and other spices leaving a delicious treat. The Classic Big Slab has a medium spice level that features cracked black pepper and mild sweetness with a slight smokiness on the finish. The Classic Original Jerky sets the gold standard for peppered jerky and is the perfect complement to this Bloody Mary.

Serving Size: 1 drink

1½ ounces Vodka

2 ounces tomato juice

¾ teaspoon freshly grated horseradish

3 dashes Worcestershire sauce

3 dashes hot sauce of your choice

2 dashes salt

1 dash freshly ground black pepper

1 cup of ice cubes

1 dash fresh lemon juice

***Garnish with Classic Original Big Slab Beef Jerky, celery, lemon, and your choice of olives.

 Green Machine Bloody Mary

Our Green Machine Mary is a unique interpretation of the classic. The crisp flavors of the green juice meld flawlessly with the tequila to make a bright and refreshing drink.  The garnish of the Carne Seca Limón Con Chile beef jerky introduces a kick of heat and lemony tartness to round out the flavor. Whole cuts of 100% USA beef are cut into thick strips, marinated with lemon juice and an all-natural spice blend featuring cracked red pepper and guajillo chili powder, then slow-cooked for a minimum of 5 hours to craft the best beef jerky. The Limón con Chile is best characterized as flavorful in its spice profile rather than a purely hot jerky or spicy jerky. You’ll be wishing you had more jerky to soak in this divine Green Machine Bloody Mary. 

Serving Size: 1 drink

1½ ounces Tequila Blanco

3 ounces Fresh Green Juice*

1 dash fresh lime juice

*Fresh Green Juice

(Process through the standard juicing machine):

2 green apples, halved

4 celery stalks, leaves removed

1 cucumber

6 kale leaves

½ lemon, peeled

1 (1 inch) piece of fresh ginger

***Garnish with Carne Seca Limón con Chile, fresh cilantro, and a lime wedge.

Smoky Bourbon Bloody Mary

Finishing off our medley of Mary’s is our Smoky Bourbon Bloody Mary.  This rich and hearty drink packs layers of smoky flavor heightened by the spicy sweetness of the bourbon.  What better way to garnish this drink than with a few olives and our thicker, Old Fashioned Original beef jerky? The thick-cut jerky and reduced moisture h the cracked black pepper and sea salt framing the natural richness of the thick-cut beef jerky. This is authentic jerky, handcrafted in an old-time style. This is not a moist jerky; each thick piece has a chewy steak-like texture. The ultimate cowboy jerky for the perfect Smoky Bourbon Bloody Mary. 

Serving Size: 1 drink

1 ½ ounces bourbon

3 ounces tomato juice

1 dash smoked paprika

3 drops liquid smoke

1 dash celery salt

1 dash cayenne pepper

1 dash cumin

***Garnish with Old Fashioned Original Beef Jerky, lemon, and olives of choice.
