Lynchburg Lemonade

Lynchburg Lemonade

What better way to immortalize an obviously revered place than to name a world-renown drink for it? The distillers of Jack Daniel’s Tennessee whiskey did just that. Then someone from Lynchburg, Tennessee, where the distillery is located, got that fever and that’s how we got the Lynchburg Lemonade. This cocktail made from Jack Daniels Tennessee Whiskey, triple sec, and lemonade leans on the sour side and is best for summer parties and bar trips. The makers of this cocktail claim that the secret really come from the whiskey. So if you plan to have an authentic Lynchburg Lemonade, don’t ever attempt to make something out of other whiskey brands.

  • Whiskey - a strong alcoholic drink made from rye, corn or barley
  • Triple sec - a colorless, orange-flavored liqueur of the Curacao family; alcohol content ranges from 20-40% volume
  • Margarita mix - this is a good mix for making homemade margaritas; it can be easily made by mixing together simple syrup and adding lemon juice and lime juice when the syrup has cooled.

The Rise in Fame

Aside from the US where it originally hails, Lynchburg Lemonade is very popular in Sweden, especially in the counties of Varmland, Stockholm, Vastra Götaland, and Skåne.

The Perfect Pair

Always know the main ingredient of your drink before you try to find something that will go with it. The whiskey can be a bit overwhelming paired with the obvious sourness of the lemonade in the Lynchburg Lemonade, it can be intense. It is best to pair it with food that will balance the taste of the cocktail. Tickle your palate with this Asian-inspired pork ribs, or gorge in the crunchy flavors of pub mix. Tangy fruits like peaches and apples are also good choices. You can keep it simple with cheesy nachos or balance the sourness with the sinfully delicious Hershey’s dark chocolate cake.
