A blender is a kitchen appliance used to mix, crush, and puree ingredients. There are two types of blenders: the stationary blender and the stick blender. The stationary blender is the older version, and it comes in two pieces: the pitcher and blender base.

While the stick blender or hand blender has the motor body and the blending arm, the blending arm comes with different attachments for specific uses like whisking, emulsifying, and blending.

How to Clean Your Blender

Turn off the power and unplug

Before cleaning your blender, you need to turn off the motor. Some blenders don’t come with buttons, and they can be activated by pressing on the pitcher. This could be problematic since you need to remove the pitcher from the blender to clean it.

Clean the blender base

Most people forget about the blender base as the pitcher has the most food contents. Using a damp cloth, wipe the base and touchpad. You can use a toothpick to clean the drive socket.

Don’t use abrasives

Using metal sponges or stiff brushes will dull the surface of your blender. They can look cheap and broken down, especially if the paint is chipped.

Never submerge in water

The blender base works when it’s plugged in. If it gets wet, the water and the electricity may react, causing a spark. If that does happen, be sure to unplug your blender and let it fully dry before using it.

Stationary Vs. Stick Blender

Movement

Stationary blenders do not require you to move around, all you need to do is press a button, and it will do the crushing and blending for you. This is excellent for people who just require a quick shake or smoothie without having to do much.

Different functions

Immersion blenders are for beating eggs, mixing batter, and making smoothies. They require a deep glass, or everything will spill everywhere. Stationary blenders can be used for smoothies, frozen cocktails, and creamy soup. It handles hard ingredients well.
