Tequila Sazerac Recipe
The Tequila Sazerac is a delicious cocktail perfect for Cinco de Mayo. It is made with tequila, absinthe, agave nectar, and bitters.
The absinthe gives this cocktail an interesting licorice flavor, while the lemon juice adds tartness to it. Agave nectar balances out all of these flavors and makes for a smooth drink that you can enjoy any time!
This recipe works best with high-quality tequila such as Fortaleza’s because they're made from 100% blue agaves grown in Mexico.
2 oz. Tequila
½ oz. Agave nectar
2-3 dashes of Peychaud’s bitters
Absinthe for rinsing
Orange peel for garnish
Rinse a cocktail glass with absinthe. Make sure to cover all sides. Throw away the remaining absinthe.
In a mixing glass with ice, combine the rest of the ingredients.
Stir well until mixed and chilled.
Strain into the rinsed glass.
Garnish with orange peel.
Fortaleza’s handmade, artisan tequilas are produced using time-consuming, old-world techniques that result in maximum flavor and true agave expressions.
From crushing the agave pinas with a giant millstone to extract the juice to open-top fermentation in small, 3,000-liter wooden fermenters, every step of the process is designed to produce the finest possible tequila.
