Cuts transportation needs

How can one Soda Stream machine and a single bottle save 3,000 single use plastic bottles a year? I drink a lot of fizzy water but at most I’m guzzling down only 2 × 500ml bottles a day. I’d have to drink more than 8 bottles a day to equal 3,000. Admittedly it’s less if I count 1L bottles but even so I’d still be having to drink 4 × 1L bottles every single day to get to the equivalent of my 3,000 × 500ml bottles. I’d invite anyone to try and drink 4L of just fizzy water a day… I manage a little over 4L if I put my mind to it (I’m on a diet where drinking at least 3L is essential) but it’s really hard to get to that much and I’m counting tea and coffee in that total.
