6 Reasons Why Every Bartender Needs A Coffee Machine In Their Bar

When people go to a bar, coffee might not be the first thing on their mind. However, you’d be surprised at how many people order a hot drink on a night out.

On top of this, there are many reasons why a coffee machine within your bar could be absolutely essential. For most mixologists and bar owners, it just makes perfect sense.

1. It Can Give Your Customers a Boost

If someone has come to your bar for a drink after work, or they are starting to flag a little, having the option to have a quick caffeine boost might be the ideal boost. This could also mean they stay at the bar for longer.

Plenty of us rely on the odd espresso shot to get through the day. Just because someone visits your bar for alcoholic drinks, don’t assume they won’t pause for a coffee.

2. It Opens Up New Possibilities for Drinks

There are actually a lot of options for alcoholic beverages that can incorporate coffee. There is a complete list of coffee cocktails that you can check out, and this can be an exciting option for your baristas and mixologists to experiment with coffee drinks. White Russians, Irish Coffees, and many more drinks can easily incorporate real coffee.

Of course, you can also offer the full range of barista-style drinks, even if you don’t have the skills to make them. Your little coffee helper can effectively do the job for you.

3. It’s an Option for Teetotal Customers and Designated Drivers

Plenty of people are teetotal and still want to visit bars with friends and for social drinks. It can be really frustrating if you don’t drink alcohol and turn up at a bar with limited drinks options.

Some bars only cater to those who are looking to drink alcohol. In the modern age, this could actually be cutting your options for making sales. It is estimated that 1 in 4 of the young people in the UK, for instance, is now teetotal.

On top of this, there are often designated drivers, particularly if your bar is not easy to reach by foot. Don’t be the kind of bar that just provides them with cola as an option.

4. You May Bring in New Clientele

Those who have been in your bar can now enjoy a coffee. Plus, you might even get new clientele. For instance, if someone is looking for a place to meet up with a friend during the day when they are not drinking, they will want somewhere that serves drinks other than the standard alcoholic options.

There’s a chance that good coffee can get you a reputation and bring in new customers. This can increase your profits. Hey, you might even be able to start doing takeaway drinks and add additional revenue streams.

5. It’s a Staff Perk

Many of us wouldn’t get through our long shifts without caffeine, and the same is probably true for your employees. There’s no reason why they can’t make use of your coffee machine for their drinks, and you can provide this as a perk to keep your employees...well, perky.

Coffee is relatively affordable to create, so even if multiple employees use the coffee machine during their shift, it won’t come at a high expense. This sort of boost can make your staff feel much better during their shift and will work even more efficiently.

6. It Can Pay for Itself Quickly

Coffee beans and dollar-sign on coffee

As we’ve mentioned already, coffee is not the most expensive product to make. Compared to a lot of the other drinks you sell, the markup is probably pretty high.

You can install a bean to cup coffee machine without a huge expense, and by the time you are selling a few cups of coffee a day, you’ll be well on the way to starting to pay back the initial outlay.

Keep in mind that consumers have become wise when it comes to coffee, so they will probably want something decent. This is why nobody is serving instant coffee in bars (or at least, nobody should be).

A coffee machine in your bar is not just a luxury item that will sit there gathering dust. It is actually a very useful tool to keep employees happy and boost the offering for your customers.

Instant coffee isn’t going to cut it, and the world is crazy for coffee! There is a reason why it is one of the most heavily-traded commodities.

With the falling price of many coffee machines, there’s certainly no reason not to equip yourself with the way to make barista-style coffee in your bar and keep your customers happy.
