What a treasure! I bought this book for my friend who is turning 100 years old! She has a vodka tonic each evening before her dinner. I thought she may like to change it up with a prohibition era cocktail and I can join her!

My family and I had the best time recreating the cocktails from Ted Haigh’s Vintage Spirits and Forgotten Cocktails: Prohibition Centennial Edition! Straight off, the intriguing bits of history and the historical pictures, make Vintage Spirits a perfect coffee table book, but Mr. Haigh includes easy to recreate (and delicious) recipes which I totally recommend! We made almost all of these, though we were particularly enchanted by the gin cocktails. Our favorites included the Pegu Club, the Park …Avenue Cocktail, and the Derby. The daiquiri were delicious and fun to make with the fresh lime juice and crushed ice.We spent a good deal of money setting up the bar, but with all these wonderful recipes I know our well stocked bar will give us years of enjoyment.

This has been a wonderful present. I bought it for my husband - who prefers gin drinks (which this book has a plethora!). With the 2020 quarantines - we've bought some unique liquors and are working our way through the book. This has really added to our regular cocktail drinks! Fabulous pictures, great history of the drinks, nice to have direction for online resources for the really odd liquors.

I bought these as early Christmas gifts for my family, (and of course a gift to myself!!). These were a hit. We are all enjoying reading, making, and drinking these long forgotten recipes. Nothing better than vintage drinks!!

Ted "Dr. Cocktail" Haigh has sifted through 150+ years of mixological history to bring us a carefully curated selection of one hundred of the tastiest classic cocktails. Each selection comes with a story, and one--the Monkey Gland--with a song! In addition to the recipes, the book contains a plethora of photographs. There are some suggestions on where to obtain some of the more obscure ingredients. With interviews with leading lights of the mixed drinks world and a list of cocktail-related blog…s and other online resources, this is more than a recipe book, it is a friendly and erudite introduction to cocktail culture. Spiral bound so it lies flat for easy reference.

Disclaimer: Purchase this on it's own. That way the book won't slide. I had to return my copy because the binding ripped.Beautiful nostalgic layout of vintage bottles and ad's. Recipes neatly organized. Thorough history and comments by the author.

This is a great cocktail book. They go into the history of the drinks and offer a substitution of the ingredients that are no longer available. I really have enjoyed this book.
