Got the book just thinking I’d learn how to make a drink or two from the legendary speakeasy, pleasantly surprised it came with the extended history of the establishment as well as a crash course in running a bar/restaurant. Got to learn a secret or two as well ;)

Not sure why other cocktail books receive way more praise than this one. I've been following Jamie Boudreau youtube videos and there's no doubt he knows what he's doing, the cocktails are very elaborate and delicious. You will have to spend some money in quality liqueurs and glassware to make it right, for instance, Jamie likes to use a lot of Chartreuse & Absinthe in his drinks, which is an amazing, but not cheap liqueurs. Get some coupe / nick and nora glasses and make sure you also add key b…ottles such as Lillet Blanc, St Germain, Antica Formula Vermouth, Benedictine and you'll be good to go. The pictures are really nice, every cocktail is very well explain. For a Mixologist aficionado, this is a must have book.

Great recipes. Loved making some of these over the holidays. Mezcal, egg white ginger cocktail was excellent.

Friends in Seattle told me about this whiskey bar. The first picture accurately gives you the feel as you enter the place. It has also been voted as one of the top 5-10 whisky bars in the world...no mean feat! As Boudreau readily points out is the intimacy that makes it unique is also a drawback due to only being able to seat only 32. I recommend sitting at the bar...especially the center if possible (the tables only accommodate four and they will not and cannot allow larger groups. I picked th…e Sazerac Experience (three ways).I bought this book for the recipes but it is a must for anyone wishing to become a world-class bartender, and can save you a lot of grief if you are planning on opening a bar or restaurant! The only thing that could have been improved was being able to find a cocktail without going to the index, but I did not deduct for that because Boudreau has created a journey! I own only one other guide I treasure as much as this: Trader Vic's Bartender's Guide, and have the first edition as well as a revised one. Vic Bergeron took cocktail inventing and mixing as sacred...Jamie does the same!

After visiting Canon I had to buy the book for myself and my friends I went with. The drinks are amazing when prepared by the gifted bartenders at Canon. Now I can replicate these at home! Having sung the praises of the actual drinks, this is a beautiful book full of amazing recipes and photos. If only the book came with the beautiful glasses that are photographed in the book!

great book.

Outstanding cocktail recipe book for the sophisticated mixologist - some of the ingredients are hard to find, even on the Internet, but a upstanding liquor purveyor can bring items in.

I ordered this book for my boyfriend for Christmas. He is a bartender and really enjoys reading up on new recipes and interesting stories. We live in Seattle and have been to Canon - what an enjoyable place to visit for food and drinks. Overall, I would say this is a great purchase for anyone in the industry or anyone who wants to learn a little more about cocktails.
