Details: The Singing Rock Bandit Ice Tool is up for almost any type of ascent. Its modular design allows it to adapt to midwinter ice climbs, mixed routes, and technical mountaineering objectives. The hot-forged head is specifically designed to be jammed into cracks while mixed climbing and provides support when utilizing the Bandit as a traditional ice axe during mountaineering missions. It also accepts either an ice or dry pick and adze or hammer for increased versatility. The curved shaft really excels in steeper terrain, but isn't overly aggressive to the point it becomes useless when you're confronted with a more moderate hanging snowfield. Lash a leash through the loop at the handle during technical mountaineering missions or clip a bungee tether to it when you know you'll be on vertical terrain for most of the day--either way, you'll be set with this adaptable ice tool.

Just finished a 3 day climbing trip to Lake City, CO with these. They are light, perfectly weighted and way cheaper than Black Diamond. I would highly recommend them.

So I currently own Grivel Tech Machines and older Trango Mantis tools. The Grivel's are excellent for hard ice and mixed routes however I was in need of all around tools for alpine use. The Bandits perform remarkably well with good geometry. I knew very little about Singing Rock with the exception of a few videos on Youtube and mostly European reviews, very happy with the performance and design put into these tools. Removable pommel and removable secondary pinky rest is nice. I feel like these

Got these as a low cost option for the Ouray Ice Festival in Ouray, CO. Reviews I read seemed to indicate they would work fine for any beginning ice climber. It was only after an instructor showed me that I realized my swing wasn’t correct for this type of ice tool. It wasn’t a biggie, probably a rookie mistake. But it took a bit to learn it so I recommend purchasing and then seeking out someone experienced to help you so you don’t kill your arms when climbing!
