I have a "Sonic Ice" Ice Maker and this ice pick easily separates ice pebbles with they stick together. It probably works on an ice block as well; but, I haven't tried it. Very sleek, easy to hold, no hammer needed. I use it almost daily, and it's still in brand new condition.

You could drive NAILS with this thing, if you were that inclined. I think a handguard would be the only improvement as the handgrip tends to get slippery when wet.
