Very powerful. Love this and if you're careful when you clean it, you should have no issues with cutting your hands. It's my second one, and the first one I had for 23years. I hope it lasts as long! I love the food processor also.The only issue with this is it's LOUD. But we are a loud family, so it's really not even an issue.

The blades are sharp. the motor is strong. The pitcher is made with thick sturdy glass. I make smoothies using rock hard frozen fruit and it gets the job done. Not sure why people think you need a $600-$1500 blender if you’re a smoothie afficinado. I’ve never had a problem with this one. There’s an ice crushing setting that works with large non-aerated ice if that helps show how sturdy and strong it is. I am thrilled to have found this. I received one as a wedding gift over 15 YEARS ago and it recently crapped out. If this replacement lasts half as long, I'll be happy. I use it ( the blender) to whip up smoothies and it does a great job of getting through frozen berries. I also use it ( the food processor attachment) frequently to make hummus. One of the best features for me is the glass blender jar - I kind hate plastic ones and the glass one seems cleaner to me.

We replaced the same unit that we have had for 15 years. It works very well for our needs.
