The Margarita Of The Year You Can Make At Home

The Margarita Of The Year You Can Make At Home

Blended, mixed, or shaken. Margarita is a classic and timeless drink yet there are varying accounts of where, when, and how this drink came to be.

Some say that margarita which means “daisy” in Spanish was a popular American and Mexican drink during the Prohibition and was already well-known in Tijuana long before it became commercially famous. Other accounts say that the margarita was either named after a Dallas socialite, Margarita Sames or the 1940’s singer Peggy (Margaret) Lee.

Regardless of its origin, we can’t argue the popularity of this cocktail remains unfazed. In fact, you can get a margarita in different versions.  You can get the timeless tequila, lime juice and orange liqueur mixture or go for a bolder version with herbs and spices.

But what is the best margarita? A popular brand of tequila products recently created a contest to find out which margarita recipe is the best this year.

Patron Tequila

Patron Tequila is a world-famous brand of premium tequila made from 100% Weber Blue Agave. It is manufactured by the Patron Spirits Company which is based in Mexico. To celebrate International Margarita Day, the company launched 2018’s search for Margarita of the Year, which is now on its fourth year.

Seven bartenders from all over the world were selected to showcase their own unique Margarita recipes using indigenous flavors from their respective regions. Votes for the most popular recipe were digitally gathered using the contest’s official website, ‘MargaritaOfTheYear.com’. Voters were able to share content using social media channels such as Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube. The winner of contest was announced during Cinco de Mayo (May 5).
