RewardExpert, one of the world’s top travel review blogs online, ranked the best vineyards and wineries in America based on wine production and wine quality. The results were from data collected from over two million wine reviews from CellarTracker, the world’s largest online collection of wine reviews and the Permitted Wine Producers Database of the U.S. Department of the Treasury, Alcohol and Tobacco Trade Bureau.
Among the top wine destinations according to the study are Greater El Paso, Texas; Anchorage, Alaska; Sacramento, California; and two regions from New York––Kingston-Hudson Valley and Riverhead-Suffolk County.
Interestingly, Ohio, which is known for its thriving coal industry, was chosen as this year’s leading wine destination. Coshocton is located in east-central Ohio and home to a ratio of at least 1 vineyard per 10,000 residents. The highest rated winery in the list––the Heritage Vineyard––can also be found here.
Heritage Vineyard, a sprawling winery off the coast of Ohio, produces estate grown, handcrafted French and American hybrid wines. It is not only popular for its wide range of estate wines but also for its gorgeous Heritage Guesthouse where guests can rest and relax after a long day of touring the vineyard.

After Coshocton, Ohio, the second top wine destination in the study belongs to Easton, Maryland. Compared to Coshocton’s nine wineries, Easton has 23 vineyards for more than 170,000 residents. It has received an average ranking of 94 (out of 100) wines produced per region.
The Kingston-Hudson Valley, New York, on the other hand, ranks third in the list with a rating of 89 out of 100 wineries ranked nationally.
